RIP Elizabeth Taylor

A caricature of a very young Elizabeth Taylor who died yesterday aged 79. I haven't seen any of her movies, and only can name a couple ('National Velvet' and 'Cleopatra') but there is no denying her iconic status in Hollywood and in the world of cinema.

Here is a link to the first sketch and the revised version which I then used for the final painting. Pencil and Photoshop.

Well done Chris. I like the choice of the young Liz. I'm impressed the way she still looks cute despite her big eyebrows.
Once again, you first made a sketch on a paper (with real pens!). Do you sometimes draw directly on your Cintiq tablet or do you definitely prefer traditionnal medias for sketching?

Thanks for the comments!

David- I only sketch digitally if I definitely know I'm going to paint over it afterwards. Digitally sketching doesn't come as easy for me. But if the sketch is going to be the main focus for a piece, nothing beats the look of real pens and pencils

Reflections in a Golden Eye
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Raintree County
Father of the Bride
& Father's Little Dividend
A Place in the Sun
Ivanhoe
Little Women
Elephant Walk
The Taming of the Shrew

[She was MEANT for Tennessee Williams:]

Sweet Bird of Youth
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Suddenly, Last Summer

There are also other films that Taylor made that I haven't seen.

Since you so rightly emphasize her eyes, one wants to see a light shade of lavendar in her irises. Also, since this caricature was of Taylor as a child, a chipmunk would have added another dimension. (She kept them as pets and they would ride on her shoulders, etc.)
